About this course
This course aims to explore the role of public libraries in promoting learning, civic engagement, and community building. It will equip learners with strategies for collecting statistical and descriptive data about public library communities, and identifying potential local partners in education, social services, and government agencies. By conducting real-world investigations, learners will gain a better understanding of the wants and needs of community organizations, which will enable them to make informed management decisions, even with limited budgets.
Throughout the course, learners will develop skills in finding demographic and persona data from online sources, conducting environmental scans, leading focus groups and interviews, analyzing data to identify patterns and gaps in community services, and synthesizing their findings in a report.
